Tomorrow’s Einsteins

Can you imagine a school where in each classroom students are receiving individual help and attention? Maywood Public School is your answer! To add to the benefits that are currently in each classroom, MPS has introduced a new learning program called Compass Learning to help broaden students’ chance to learn and understand the concepts and curriculum. Compass Learning creates a partnership between computers and teachers and uses the best of both. Each activity is geared to a student’s individual achievement level as measured by annual assessments such as MAPS testing. Matching fun activities within a student’s ability level creates a positive learning experience and increases the student’s potential. Most classes have time set aside to use the program during the week at school. The added bonus is that students and parents can also access Compass Learning at home on multiple devices. This is especially helpful when students are away from school for extended periods of time like holidays and summer break. They simply go to www.thelearningodyssey.com or the Maywood Public School Homepage and click on the Compass Learning quick link. Maywood students are very excited to be using the program because of how interactive it is.

Compass Learning was established in 1969. For more than four decades the company’s innovative programs have overcome obstacles to student success by delivering award-winning K-12 learning acceleration software. While being based in one of the world’s most connected cities, Austin, Texas, Compass Learning has brought together educational thought leaders, software engineers, content experts, designers, animators, and even scriptwriters. Compass Learning challenges them to create the tools and resources teachers need to make the most of their precious time and energy. With all of the work being put into this program the result is a full suite of software and service solutions that are precision-built to help educators solve some of today’s toughest educational problems. Their approach combines rigorous, research-based instruction with fun, real-time and digital content, and actionable data to produce greater student progress faster! In other words, students have so much fun with the interactive “learning games,” that they forget they’re engaged in educational work. Compass Learning is another valuable tool that MPS has added to ensure that all students can find success in their school experience.
