The Southwest Region of Nebraska Game and Parks, hosts the Kayak Kids essay each fall. Students ages 11-14 and 15-18 are asked to write about the benefit of growing up outdoors.  This year Maywood Public School had four winners. Haydn Far received first place, winning a kayak, paddle, life vest and fishing rod/reel combo. Second place went to Kyla Patel. Kyla received a fishing rod/reel combo. Jon Patel received third place, winning an assortment of bass fishing worms in a tackle box. In the 15-18 division, Brian Loveland placed third. He received a an assortment of bass fishing worms in a tackle box. Congrats to these students and to all who participated in this year's competition.
