“Do you mock me, Sir?

Maywood High’s mock trial team is doing quite well so far. The mockers traveled to Beaver City on October 16, where the prosecution team won its trial against Arapahoe. “They have come a long way from when they started,” stated Coach Janice Arent. The Plaintiff’s team was: Kaitlyn McGuire, Sanne Beeren, Julie Ingison, Kizziah Rutherford, Rebel Sjeklocha, and Jason McIntosh. The Defendant’s team was: Paul White, Keegan Dibbern, Julie Ingison, Kizziah, Rebel, and Jason. Coach Arent went on to add that “They made very good eye contact with the jury, and they were even better at answering the cross examination questions.”

In this particular case, the plaintiff claims that the defendant intentionally sent a social media message with flashing strobe lights that caused a seizure. The plaintiff claims injury as a result of the Defendant’s actions and seeks a judgment against him for the resulting damages. The defendant admits sending a social media message, and admits the Plaintiff experienced a seizure, but denied any actions by him caused damages or intended any harm. The teams have competed twice so far. In the first trial they were the defendants and lost to Southern Valley.  In the second trial they represented the plaintiff and defeated Arapahoe.
