Maywood FFA celebrates National FFA Week

Recently the Maywood FFA Chapter celebrated National FFA Week. They held multiple events throughout the week for the entire school to participate in. They put on an Ag Olympics that consisted of games like corn hole and stick horse races. They also interviewed students for the “Thank a Farmer” video that was posted on the Maywood Public School Youtube channel. They also cooked breakfast for all of faculty and staff. The big ending to the celebration of National FFA Week was the “Kiss a Calf” event. Earlier in the week students voted for teachers and staff members to be nominated to kiss a calf. After three nominees were chosen, jars were set out in the commons area for a penny war. The nominee with the most money in their jars would have to kiss the calf at the end of the week. Mr. Brown was the winner and had $170.20 in his jar. He donated his winnings back to the FFA Chapter.

    The Maywood FFA Chapter also competed in their last CDE competition for this year. This was the last chance for members to punch their tickets to the state convention. Those results are listed below:

 

Meats Evaluation-4th-Bryar Gerlach, team 9th overall

Vet Science- 33rd-Kaely Perkins

Ag Sales- 9th-Paul White, 11th- Rebel Sejklocha, team 3rd overall

Nursery & Landscape-3rd-Eli Handsaker, 4th-Von Fritsche, 6th-Paige Wood, 8th-Tucker Hartley, team 1st overall.
