‘Everything’s Coming up Roses!’
On February 10th, the Maywood FFA team traveled to the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) in Curtis for their first spring Career Development Event (CDE) in Livestock Management and Floraculture. The Livestock team placed 7th out of 20 teams. They had to complete 6 general knowledge tests and practicums over beef, dairy, swine, sheep, poultry, & equine. This is the only contest in Nebraska that allows the students to complete the entire contest as a team. Team members included Bryar Gerlach, Tucker Hartley, Kaely Perkins, Pake Johnston, Von Fritsche, and Bailey Brown.
The Floriculture team placed 2nd and will compete at the state contest in April. This contest consists of plant identification, general knowledge over floriculture, creating an arrangement, and completing a price sheet for their arrangement.
