Wolves Make Pirates Walk the Plank at Hall of Fame Game

Pake Johnston & Digital Media

The M-HC Wolves showed their teeth during the exhibition game against Elwood last Tuesday, November 24th. The Wolves and Pirates squared off in Maywood for the annual Hall of Fame Game. Both the boys' and girls' teams prevailed over Elwood for the first time in many years. This was a terrific start to the basketball season. Way to go Wolves!!

When Mr. Ellis was asked what he wanted to see coming from the boys side, he stated “my goal this year is that the guys give it their all, buy into the system that I’m coaching, and muster the drive to compete night in and night out.” When asked about the co-op Coach Ellis said he enjoys it because it provides opportunities for him and the players to build relationships with both schools. “I think the kids are eager to compete, and experienced players coming back from last year will help put together a winning season,” stated Ellis. Coach Ellis has a favorite quote that he finds inspiring and hopes will inspire his players, too. “Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.Lady Wolves' coach Kim Stengle had these comments following the Elwood scrimmage: "I am proud of the way the girls played 'team basketball'. They have been working hard as the new season has started. There are many new things to learn about each player and the role they will each play for the team.  The girls' scrimmage vs. Elwood was a nice way to see what we can do and the variety of things we need to improve."
