Coming Together as a Team
As fall sports comes to an end for the Maywood-Hayes Center Wolves we have comments from the coaches on how their players did this year. The MHC football team went 2-6 and the Lady Wolves volleyball team went 4-20. The coaches agreed that they were expecting a better season. This year for volleyball and football it was an up and down season. They had times where it went up and down for both the teams. But a positive to come out of this year was that players, both girls and boys, came together as a team.
M-HC football coaches agreed that a big improvement from the beginning to the end of the football season was an increase in physical toughness. In addition, the Maywood players were challenged to learn new plays that Hayes Center brought to the team. Coach Gilmore stated that “All the guys from day-to-day practiced hard and never gave up.” The Wolves’ coaches also had their eyes on the incoming talent from the junior high and how best to utilize it.
For volleyball they had a season of improvement. “Throughout the season they never gave up and always played hard. Even though they didn’t have the season they wanted they still kept their heads up,” stated Coach Armstrong. MPS wishes the best to the M-HC Wolves as they enter the basketball season. Remember to show your support by attending their games and cheering for the Wolves. Go green and black!!
