“Set your goals high, and don’t stop till you get there” -Bo Jackson

The quote above aptly describes the quest of MPS students, parents and patrons over the past three years. The students of Maywood Public Schools recently finished taking the fall MAP tests for grades K-12. This means that the students now have their new A-Team groups and have also been assigned to a new teacher. This school year, A-Team is held after 8th period from 3:21 to 3:44. This is a time for the students to get help with homework, work on student assessment activities, and overall continue their growth as successful individuals. The NeSA results are also in and the students have shown phenomenal growth over the last three years. From 2013 to 2015 they’ve increased their proficiency percentage by almost 30%. The percent of tests taken that exceeded the proficient mark has risen by over 25%.

The students and teachers have made great strides over the last three years and continue their success in the classroom. The teachers have been doing an outstanding job of teaching our students and raising the bar in the classroom. They are holding the students to high expectations and have been challenging themselves as teachers to get better in the classroom as well. The teachers and students have been putting forth great effort and the scores definitely indicate this. Our district goal for all NeSA tests in 2015-2016 is 92%. Parents should have, or will be receiving, their child’s NeSA scores from last year in the mail. As a school and community Maywood will continue to set high standards of academic achievement for students and educators alike. The following charts show how much the students have improved their NESA scores over the last three years
