“It’s Beginning to (Sound) a lot like Christmas”!

The best way to spread Christmas cheer, is to sing aloud for all to hear! ‘Twas the 11th of December when all through the school, Maywood K-12 students took to the stage to sing songs of joy and play their harmonious instruments. The program, “Christmas Wishes,” started off wonderfully when the kindergarten through third grade students performed a skit called “Wally’s Groovin’ Christmas.” It involved a penguin character named Wally who forgot how to waddle. With the help of his Turkey, Zebra, Walrus, and Penguin friends was able to get his waddle back just in time for Christmas.

The Fourth and Fifth Grade Choir then sang “Christmas wishes,” and “There’s someone in the Chimney,” featuring Jhett Sellers as Santa Claus. Next, the 6th Grade Band played three enlightening pieces of music by famous composers and poets such as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and P.I. Tchaikovsky. Following up the 6th Grade was the 5th Grade Band that played multiple songs like “Jolly Old St. Nicholas and Jingle Bells.” Later in the program the Junior High Choir, High School Choir, and Junior/Senior High Band finished out the program. The Grand Finale included students from Kindergarten to 12th Grade singing a medley of songs from the film Frozen as other band members played the music with their instruments. At the conclusion of the program the students had a surprise visit from Santa Claus.
