A New Face Joins the Teaching Staff

Many faces come and go through the doors of Maywood Public School, many of which are teachers. Teachers enrich us with knowledge which was given to them from previous years of hard work and dedication on their part to help further the learning process of future students. Maywood teachers give many years of their lives to helping students achieve their goals and to continue climbing to new levels of success.

A new face that has popped up among Maywood staff this year is Phyllis Johnson, our new Special Ed teacher. Mrs. Johnson has 12 years of teaching experience, with four of those years in Special Education and currently holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education, and an Administrative Certificate for Curriculum Supervisor K-12, as well as a Reading Specialist PK-12 degree. With her depth of experience and knowledge, Mrs. Johnson will provide us with valuable resources in the process of leading MPS students to the top of their academic potential. “I believe that each student is an exceptional individual with specific needs and strengths.” said by Mrs. Johnson. “Students need to be provided with opportunities that will help them succeed.” “Every child deserves a valuable education that focuses on their present and future needs.” With the encouragement and guidance from teachers like Mrs. Johnson, MPS students will gain the tools and mindset to be successful in high school and in their lives after they graduate. The next time you meet her in the halls, take a moment to greet Mrs. Johnson and make her feel welcome. Shout out thanks to her and the other MPS teachers for all they do for our school.
