FFA Feeds the Farmers

The sweet, pungent smell of diesel trucks and the aroma of grilled steaks filled the air; corn dust blew in the wind like a light snow as local harvested crops were trucked into town.  On the 24th of October, members of the Maywood FFA Chapter headed down to the Ag Valley Coop in Maywood, to give back to all the farmers that support the community and the FFA Chapter. The Maywood FFA members helped prepare lunches for the farmers who brought in their crops and gave them to-go boxes which they took back for the rest of their crew. This was a great way to recognize all that the local farmers do for our community and FFA Chapter!

With an estimated world population growth of two billion more people by the year 2050, the farmers are the people we will look toward to provide all of our meals. The thing that the world has to figure out is how to find a way to feed almost 9 billion people. American family farmers are the backbone of the nation and the first rung on the economic ladder. This is the reason the Maywood FFA Chapter has done the Feed the Farmer event, to give back to all the farmers and thank them for all the sacrifices they make to feed not only the small community of Maywood but also the world.
