Maywood School Partners with Bank To Create Tiger Branch
by Stevie Handsaker
What’s new at Maywood Public School? Well, there is one thing that stands out and that is the brand new Tiger Branch savings program. Maywood Public School, as well as the FBLA chapter there, have partnered with First Community Bank of Maywood to create a savings program for elementary students. You may be wondering, how does that work? Well, students in all grades leading up to fifth grade have the opportunity to start a savings account to better prepare them for saving in the future. The way this program works is every Wednesday, in the morning, the fifth graders, as well as FBLA members, show up early to help employees from the bank take deposits, and give prizes for depositing. Once the students reach sixth grade, they can take all their saved money out, or start a savings account at the bank. The reason behind this partnership is to hopefully show kids how saving money can help you, and also gives young students first hand experience with members of the bank, and community. Congratulations to Maywood Public School and the opening of the brand new Tiger Branch!
