Basketball Season Kicks Off

by Stevie Handsaker

The Maywood Hayes Center Wolves kick off their basketball season with wins left and right. The basketball season started with an opener game against the Wallace Wildcats, where the Lady Wolves picked up a win and the Wolves took a hard loss. The McCook Cattle Trail Basketball Tournament started Monday December 6, with both teams taking wins and advancing to the next round, bringing the teams closer to the championship. The Lady Wolves have many returning players, and are led by senior Stevie Handsaker. They are coached by Rhea Softley, Olivia McCain, and Kimberly Stengel. The Wolves have many returning players, as well as new freshmen joining the team. The Wolves are led by seniors Weston Morrow, Josh Patel, and Kohl Rutherford, and are coached by Cameron Sonnenfeld, Nick High, and Kolby Hamilton. Both teams have high hopes for this year's season of basketball. The goal is making it to the State Championships in Lincoln, at the end of the season. We look forward to watching both teams this season and wish all the coaches and athletes good luck this season.
