MPS A-Team is back and stronger than ever
Accountability, Academics, and Achievement are all things MPS Tigers strive for in with a program called A-Team. Using the motto “Tiger Excellence and Mentoring," This program was created in 2013 to help children set and achieve academic goals. This is an annual program that runs at two levels, K-5 and 6-12. With grades 6-12, the students are divided into teams equally amongst the number of teachers by using their fall session MAP scores. The students are then divided into groups with five to six students to a team or teacher. These teams meet each day and focus their studies on the areas of reading and math.
This program has proven very successful over these last three years, and as a result the team that improved the most in grades earned a reward for their hard efforts and determination. The 2016-2016 champions werenannounced earlier this week. 1st and 2nd place teams from the high school level were Mr. Heaton and Mrs. Arent respectively, and the winners from the elementary level were Mrs. Shirley and Mrs. Kennedy respectively. The students that were a part of these teams have now earned a day of recognition and rewards for all of their hard work.
