Cake walk, cotton candy, and games galore- the greatest show on earth!
Okay, so maybe it wasn’t the greatest show on earth, but the 12th annual Maywood Carnival, which was hosted by P.T.O./P.A.W.S. on April 22nd, was way cool! The high school gym hummed with the laughter and voices of children and parents as they meandered past tables filled with exotic-shaped delectable cakes, a genuine, old fashioned cotton candy machine, and games of skill and chance. Children of all ages were welcome to attend and play games such as “go fishin,’” “hoopin,’” and bingo. It also had an area for the preschool kids and younger kids to play games and activities.
While the “plink” “plink” “plink” sound of the plinko game echoed faintly from the gym, savory smells of syrup-laden pancakes and sausages greeted carnival patrons in the commons area. This delicious breakfast-for-dinner feast was sponsored by the girls’ volleyball and basketball teams raising money to attend summer camps. Overall the night was a smashing success! A big thank you goes out to P.T.O./P.A.W.S. for hosting this event every year and other activities throughout the school year!
