Handsaker Impervious to Daunting Competition

Whats more amazing than a talking dog? A spelling bee! On February 25, Maywood Public School attended the Frontier County Spelling Bee held at Eustis-Farnam. 15 students from grades 5 through 8 attended. They started off with a written test and the top five from each grade moved on to the oral recitation. 11 out of our 15 students made it to the oral part (Kiley Hejtmanek, Jenna Ingson, Talayia Padilla, Sebastian Kramer, MacKenzie Nelsen, McKenna Renner, Matthew Jacobs, Parker Johnston, River Hastings, Eli Handsaker, and Nolan Benjamin). Eli Handsaker won the Spelling Bee with the final word ‘impervious,’ and will represent Frontier County in Omaha on March 12. Emmaline Jackson from Medicie Valley was the runner up. The next time you pass a classroom and see Eli at his desk, Bee Quiet, he's spelling! Way to Go Eli!
