Maywood’s Prom the “Bee’s Knees!”
Can I dance "The Charleston?" No, but I can still dance, Old Sport! Last Saturday, the Maywood juniors put on a Roaring Twenties-themed prom that Gatsby himself would have been impressed with! Although the band did not play any jazz, there was plenty of good music and refreshments. The juniors and their class sponsors, Ms. Coyle and Mrs. Arent, worked very hard and set things up all week to prepare for the event. Prom King and Queen were seniors Jon Snider and Abby Werkmeister. Royalty and others danced the night away to contemporary hits, while refreshing themselves a variety of delicious cookies!
After the dance, everyone attended post-prom festivities at the community hall held by all junior parents. What is a post-prom party? A post-prom party is an event that is held immediately after the Senior Prom to offer students a safe, alcohol and drug free night of fun activities. Teens can celebrate into the early morning without many of the worries and dangers that previously existed. The parties are great for parents, too. They enjoy peace of mind knowing their kids are in a healthy, supervised environment. Giant-sized games was the theme at this year’s post-prom. For example, giant Twister, Janga, Hungry Hungry Hippo, and Kerplunk. There were also card games, a baseball radar gun, and a photo booth that kids enjoyed all night. Everyone had a good time attending prom. A huge thank you goes out to the juniors, Ms. Coyle and Mrs. Arent, and the junior parents for making prom a night to remember! Now that’s the berries!
