Festival, Floats and Family Fun

The chilly fall air blew across the town, as the smell of burgers and pork drifted through the air. People gathered from surrounding towns, to have a fun filled weekend. Young children, with Cheshire-cat smiles on their faces, bolt across Wellfleet’s streets. A moment of silence fell across Wellfleet. . . followed by the boom, boom, boom of drums, and blaring of trumpets, saxophones, clarinets, trombones, baritones; the melodies of the flutes fluttered through the air like butterflies, beautifully playing the National Anthem. The Maywood School Marching Band continued to play songs through the entire parade, followed by numerous floats, horses, and cars.

Nearly 25 events were held on the second Saturday of September for the Wellfleet Fall Festival, in Wellfleet, Nebraska. Events such as: bike races, children’s foot races, craft shows, fishing contest, frog and turtle races, dances, etc., filled the day with endless amounts of fun. Kids who participated in the foot races received 50 cents, whether they won or lost. Ranchers brought their strong, proud horses, raced them around Wellfleet, and competed in the Team Pinning event.
