The “Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer” End with a Bash!

The sweet smell of grilled frankfurters and barbequed baked beans drifted over the parking lot and playing fields at Maywood on Monday August 18th, during Maywood Public School’s annual “Back to School Bash.” Dozens of Maywood families gathered at picnic tables on the grade school landing for the welcome-back picnic and open house. While families feasted on the delicious meal - provided by the Maywood Booster Club and Maywood Tiger P.A.W.S. - children played games in the center field and visited their classrooms, teachers, classmates, and-soon-to-be new friends.

This annual tradition also gave the community and school board the opportunity to meet the three new teachers moving into the district. The new teachers are Victoria Armstrong, Ag Sciences; Theresa Coyle, Math; and Phyllis Johnson, Special Ed. The back-to-school bash is positive reminder of the support and encouragement that MPS receives from the community. MPS strives to be a progressive and innovative school while retaining its small-town traditions and values of welcoming all to its community and working together to provide the best education possible for its youth.
