My name is Jason Brown. I grew up on a farm outside of Pleasanton, Nebraska, and graduated in 1997. I attended McCook Community College from 1997-1999 and played basketball for the Indians. From 1999 -2003 I attended UNK and played basketball. I received my bachelor degree in K-12 Health and Physical Education. From 2003-2005 I was a graduate assistant at UNK in the Physical Education/Exercise Science departments and received a master’s degree in Adaptive Physical Education. I started teaching at Leigh Community Schools in 2005 and taught and coached for two years. The last 8 years I have been teaching and coaching at Stanton Community Schools. I have coached basketball, football, track, and volleyball in my tenure as a coach. During that time I was working on my administration degree and this past February I accepted the position as Maywood’s 6-12 Principal and AD.
I really look forward to getting to work with the students, faculty, and patrons of Maywood. Seeing the growth in students academically, socially, athletically, and all other areas is something that I love seeing in the education field.
My family includes my wife Abby, who is a teacher and is going to sub at the schools in the area this year. I have two girls Emma, 8, and Mykel, 3. Emma will be in the 3rd grade and Mykel will be starting pre-school. We also have a Jack Russell Terrier dog named Nuggett. I enjoy being involved and spending time with my family, and I also have a huge interest in sports. I like playing and watching sports in person or on TV. My favorite teams are the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Royals and the Kansas Jayhawks.
